EVIDENCE-BASED CHIROPRACTIC SERVICES

The tools that Dr. Sealey utilizes during care are proven very effective when treating a plethora of musculoskeletal conditions. These tools can be, but are very rarely, used in isolation. Many times finding the perfect combination will provide the most benefit to you. These benefits include decreasing pain, increasing range of motion, managing inflammation, developing better movement, or simply keeping you out of pain. Our goal is to get you out of pain as quickly as possible, and then provide you with the tools to keep you out pain after care!

 CHIROPRACTIC ADJUSTMENTS

The chiropractic adjustment can improve mobility and motion in joints of the spine and extremities. Adjustment can also open up a window of increased mobility and nervous system activity that allows for learning of certain movement patterns essential for life. Literature continues to support the efficacy and safety of the adjustment performed by a trained chiropractor. The adjustment, by activating certain receptors within the joint, can also provide pain relief which allows for pain free movement and increased mobility.

 MANUAL THERAPY

This hands on approach addresses the tissues that may be overactive, or that have become shortened over a period of time. Muscles that have become overactive or have shortened over time can cause unnecessary stress and tension. This method of therapy is often used in combination with other treatments to generate maximum benefits.

 FUNCTIONAL REHAB

Functional rehab represents the advancements of traditional Physical Therapy. The desired function is extremely unique for each patient, and the rehabilitation strategies should represent those functions. Properly developing these movements can allow stress to be removed from the area of pain. This can restore functionality that may have been lost or reduced. Being in a boot after an injury is a perfect example of when limited motion, in this case the ankle, can remain following the resolution of an injury.

DRY NEEDLING

Dry Needling is a treatment method using the insertion of filiform needles into specific points on the body. These points are discovered during examination and tests performed each visit. Each testing that takes place will measure the effectiveness of needling by gathering updates in your pain, range of motion, and ability to function properly. Once again, Dry Needling can be used in combination with multiple services to achieve the best outcome possible.

ProMove is dedicated to aligning its testing and treatment protocols with the most current literature to remain in cooperation with the best practices of all musculoskeletal conditions. We strive to remain our best, so we can help you stay at yours.

INSTRUMENT ASSISTED SOFT-TISSUE MANIPULATION (IASTM)

Commonly known as Graston, IASTM is an effective treatment for a variety of conditions from tendinopathy to sprains and strains. Depending on the technique used, IASTM can enhance the natural healing processes by helping clear inflammation, rid the body of scar tissue, reset muscle tone, and increase blood flow. Contrary to popular belief, scar tissue is used abundantly throughout the body when muscles and other tissues are injured or overused. The use of scar tissue by the body resembles the tar patching used to fixed cracks in a road and can change to consistency of the road. Like many of our treatment techniques, IASTM can be utilized in combination with the adjustment, manual therapy, and functional rehab.

KINESIOTAPE

This elastic style tape can be utilized in treatment to relax overused muscles or facilitate underused muscles by increasing input into the skin. It can also be used to increase blood flow and decrease inflammation while outside of the office. The tape can act as a “lifting” mechanism on the skin from the underlying tissues to promote blood flow and help release pressure off underlying pain receptors. The stretching mechanism of the tape can also act as a wonderful awareness tool to assist in maintaining posture by responding to the increase in tape tension, allowing for self-correction.

RETURN TO PLAY

Return to Play emphasizes the need to bridge the gap between therapy and returning to sport. We’ve all known athletes who’ve gotten injured, completed therapy, and resumed play to just to get hurt again. In theory, they should’ve been ready to go, but that’s just not the case in many instances. Whether it’s running out of insurance, you’ve passed the tests to be released, or it’s time to join your sports team for training, steps can easily be missed in the transition. Dr. Sealey has experienced this when he tore his ACL in college, followed by numerous surgeries to follow related to early release. Since it’s imperative to build strength sufficient for sport, these programs are a bit lengthier, focusing on building up the athlete’s threshold similar to what they'd experience in their activity. ProMove wants to assure your entire body is properly prepared to withstand the forces of sport by developing mobility, strength, and power. We want you healthy and available at all times!
